For nearly 30 years I have worked in the combined mediums of oil pastel, soft pastel and chalk on paper. These materials are combined and manipulated with a variety of tools – blending stumps, masking tape “fingers,” puddy, pallette and exacto knives, carving blades and dental tools. The result is a unique surface not normally associated with the medium of pastel. Walking the line between abstraction and landscape painting, the work explores the relationship between man and the environment and where we place ourselves in it.
