Mark Gingerich / Waterways
Brandt-Roberts Galleries is pleased to present Mark Gingerich: Waterways, a solo exhibition by acclaimed, Ohio-based painter Mark Gingerich. Renowned for his extraordinary execution of contemporary impressionism, Gingerich’s oeuvre has been hailed as “A Breath of Plein Air”.
This new body of work unveils over 20 paintings that portray waterways, specifically lakes and streams in and around Ohio. Additionally, the exhibiting array will include depictions of beach and coastal scenes gleaned from Gingerich’s recent visits to Florida and Maine. The allure of water has always been a powerful draw for artists. The stillness, waves, clarity, and reflection of water has given rise to poetry, music, paintings, dance, and film, to name a few. Our relationship with the surrounding water is deep and multifaceted. We need access to fresh, clean water in our daily lives, we immerse ourselves in it for relaxation and entertainment, and our economy depends on it. Protecting ourselves, our communities and the water itself is becoming an increasingly important issue for our planet. As a painter, Gingerich seeks to render the unassuming beauty of a scene, as well as the overtly picturesque. His choice of waterways captured in this series of paintings exquisitely illustrates this.
Gingerich was born in West Germany to missionary parents. He spent the majority of his formative years residing in rural Ohio, after his parents returned to the states. He has studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, and the Atelier Du Nord School on Lake Superior, and is a signature Member of the American Impressionist Society. Gingerich’s paintings are included in numerous public and private collections, most notably the Ohio Governor’s Mansion, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s collection, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Waterways by Mark Gingerich is on view from November 5th through November 30th, during gallery hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 1-5pm, and by private appointment. There will be an opportunity to meet the artist from 2-4pm on Sunday November 6th, the day following our Saturday Gallery Hop feature. A virtual catalog is also available. Private appointments and virtual catalogs can be requested by emailing info@brandtrobertsgalleries.com or calling 614.223.1655.
