Andrea Myers explores the space between two and three dimensionality, hybridizing painting, sculpture and fiber arts. She received her BFA in Printmedia in 2002 and her MFA in Fiber and Material Studies in 2006 both from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Toledo Museum of Art, Art Prize, Art Miami, Steven Zevitas Gallery, Fiber Arts International, the Columbus Museum of Art, and coGalleries (Berlin, Germany).
The density of patterning stretches across surfaces, suggesting expansive views of imagined waterways, skyscapes, and erosions, striations or something and somewhere in between.
Exhibitions include her first solo museum exhibition, Neon Speed, at the Textil und Rennsport Museum, Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany and Pieced+Painted, a two-person exhibition with Galen Cheney at the Haggerty Gallery, University of Dallas. Current and upcoming exhibitions include the collaborative installation “Land Jam”at the Akron Art Museum with Natalie Lanese and “Materialize” at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, IN.

The Springfield Museum of Art (SMoA) is thrilled to announce the opening of "Color Fields," a captivating solo exhibition by renowned artist Andrea Myers. This new exhibition will be on view from August 10 to December 29, 2024, with an opening reception on Saturday, August 10th, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. We invite art enthusiasts and the community to join us in celebrating this vibrant showcase of Myers' work.
In "Color Fields," Myers explores the rich and tactile world of fabric, a medium that surrounds us daily. Her work transforms found, donated, and repurposed fabrics into densely patterned installations and picture planes. Using the language of color field painting and a gestural approach to quilt-making, Myers creates organic formations and shifting shapes that merge in dynamic panoramas. Her process involves sewing, cutting, and collaging fabric, resulting in large-scale pieces that blur the lines between two and three-dimensionality.
